Search Engine Optimization (or SEO) is a tool that has been used for years be web designers to increase visitor traffic by improving search engine rankings. This may sound complicated, but in truth, anyone can learn the basic principles of SEO. And here’s the best part: this strategy is PERFECT for eBay sellers since it is only just beginning to be used in eBay listings. Start using SEO on your listings now, and you’ll be a step ahead of the competition.

When outfitting your listings for SEO purposes, there are two types of factors to take into account:

* On Page Factors
* Off Page Factors

First let’s discuss…

On Page Factors

When search engines assign a ranking to a particular website, this ranking is based in part upon the frequency of certain keywords on that website. This same principle applies to eBay product listings. You can use the “Google Keyword Tool” in order to find a list of keywords which are relevant to your product listing. Once you have done this, you merely need to apply these keywords in a few predictable ways to your product listing in order to improve your standing on search rankings. Heres how to start:

Put keywords in your listing titles.
Make sure to include your primary keyword and a few secondary keywords as well. Just make sure that you don’t overdo it. The best practice is to include as many keywords as you can while still maintaining attractive and natural wording.

Put keywords in your descriptions.
Follow the same guidelines for your descriptions as you do for your titles. Put a lot of keywords in the first paragraph and sprinkle more throughout the text. Try to make your descriptions at least 400 words long. The more content you have on a page, the better your ranking. If you don’t feel up to the task of writing 400-500 words, try outsourcing this work through Elance.com.

Include keywords in your links.
As a rule of thumb you should take every possible opportunity to provide links from your listings to your “About Me” page and your eBay Shop. These links should also contain a moderate amount of keywords.

Start writing blog posts and reviews.
eBay gives you additional opportunities to add content to your eBay site through its Blog and Review tools. By posting through these media, you can add even more opportunities for search engines to find your listings. As always, make sure to link to your other pages and include relevant keywords.

Keep flash content to a minimum.
Flash can be a fun way to improve the appearance of your listings. However, you should always use it sparingly. Excess flash tends to displace your regular text. The more text you have on your listing, the better your chances for high search engine rankings.

Off Page Factors

In addition to the methods discussed above, you can also try to improve your search engine visibility as regards off page factors, the most important of which is external links. The more links that exist from other websites to your eBay listings and eBay shop, the better your search engine rankings.

While, you can’t force any third party website to link to your eBay shop, you can take the initiative of posting original articles on websites such as Ezinearticles.com, Blogger.com, Squidoo.com, and HubPages.com. If you include keywords in these articles and link them back to your eBay shop, many search engines will use this as a means to awarding you a higher search ranking. As you know, higher search rankings mean more traffic, and this in turn means MORE BUSINESS. And who doesn’t want more business?

What You Need to Know about Search Engine Optimization

If you think that search engine optimization is only for stand alone websites, you’re wrong. SEO can be just as effective in boosting traffic for individual eBay listings. And you know what increased traffic means right? Increase sales! And as a result, more profit.

watch?v=WqAikrdcfHg

Here’s how it works:
Keyword saturation is one of many ways in which search engines rate the relevance of a given website. If common search keywords are highly concentrated in a web page, this page is more likely to turn up in the top ten of a search engine’s results. If you can improve this concentration of keywords, this may mean that you will be able to increase your traffic and thereby, your sales.

How to Do It:
First of all, head over to Google’s Keyword Tool and allow it to generate a preliminary list of key search terms which people looking for your products might use. Once you get to the correct page follow these steps:

1. Tell the search tool which country you would like to collect information from. If you are planning to sell products only within the UK, then select this option. Otherwise, you may select as many different countries as you like.

2. Select the options “Use synonyms” and “Descriptive words and phrases.”

3. Now, type in your primary keyword. This should be the name of the product or class of products which you sell. (At this point you could also decide to simply type in the URL of another website or eBay listing which sells products which are similar to yours. It might be best to try both methods just in order to get as many keywords as possible.)

4. Click on “Get keyword ideas.”

Once you have done this, Google will create a list of keywords which might be relevant. Your job is to now sift through these keywords and find the twenty or so very most relevant and effective. First of all, you can eliminate any keywords which are obviously extraneous to the type of products which you are selling. For example, if you are selling dental supplies and you use the keyword “teeth” as your primary keyword, it is possible that a keyword such as “Jagged-Teeth Metal Saw” may come up. This is obviously irrelevant to your product line and should be eliminated from the list.

Once you have narrowed down your list thus, it is time to start analyzing the competitiveness of the suggested keywords. The Keyword Tool will show you how many searches are conducted monthly for each suggested keyword. In addition, you can find out how many listings are attached to each keyword by performing a regular Google search on that term. If a keyword has few results, but a high monthly volume of searches, this is probably a good one to choose. When in doubt, err on the side of less competition in general.

Once this is complete, you will have a list of keywords which will form the basis for the search engine optimization of your eBay listings, a significant step towards higher profits.

If you are an experienced eBay seller, you probably already have a significant amount of experience with marketing techniques targeted at new customers. But are you aware of the fact that one of the greatest potentials for new profit lies with customers that have already shopped with you? That’s right. Repeat customers often constitute the backbone of a successful eBay business.

This is because repeat customers require less work. Once they have completed a few successful purchases with you they are reluctant to move to a new seller. And why should they? It makes no sense to buy from someone who they don’t know when they already have a friendly seller that they are used to buying from. Because of this, you can make a lot of money off of these faithful customers rather than spending large amounts of energy looking for new customers.

What I would like to explain to you in this article is how to exploit this situation to the greatest effect – Full Story Here.

Have you given any thought to the above question? Maybe you haven’t tried selling info products on eBay because you’re not a professional writer. Perhaps you don’t think that info products are profitable enough or that you might have to make a big investment to start. Or just maybe, you think that selling info products on eBay is a dead end ever since eBay outlawed the sale of intangible items.

Well…

The truth is that not only is selling info products on eBay still a lucrative business opportunity but it requires a minimum amount of time and money. AND, you don’t have to be a professional writer to be successful. You just need to have a good idea and see it through.

Oh yeah, and one more thing:
You need to have the knowledge that it takes to construct a successful info product. And lucky for you, that knowledge is contained right here on this page. The following list will provide you with the most important points regarding selling info products on eBay:

- Content that Makes a Difference
In order to create a successful info product you need to pack in useful and original information. Don’t try to create a high-flung masterpiece. What most people want out of an info product such as an eBook is practical information that they can use. Stuff like “How to Manage Your Finances,” “How to Lose Weight the Quick and Healthy Way,” “How to Operate a Cannon Digital Camera.” These are topics that average people can relate to and will appreciate. If you are having a hard time putting your ideas into words you can easily hire a freelance writer to do this for you for a small fee.

- Create an Impression with Design and Video
If at all possible, include video in your info product. This will help the customer to feel confident that your product can really SHOW them the information that they are looking for. In fact, you should also make sure that you include an elegant looking cover on your product as well. This will also greatly increase its value as most people will estimate the value of your product based on how professional its presentation is.

- Listing the Product
When its time for you to start selling your info products on eBay make sure that your listing looks as professional as possible. Emphasize the benefits of the product rather than how it works. People won’t be as interested in the details of the product as in the ways in which it can BENEFIT THEM. At this point you will also need to decide on the price for your product and your return policy. I have found that keeping your prices reasonable and over-delivering is usually the best policy. Somewhere between 5 and 15 quid is a good guideline. Also, don’t be afraid to offer a 100% guarantee on your product. It is better to have to return one or two orders than to miss out on dozens of customer’s who don’t feel confident in your product to place an order because you haven’t offered a guarantee.

- Getting your Product to the Customer
Because of eBay’s policy shift last spring, you can no longer deliver your product electronically. While this causes a slight inconvenience to you, this change is actually good in the long run. I’ll explain why in just a moment.

However, because of this policy shift, you need to ship the product to your customers through traditional methods. The best way is to burn the product onto a CD and deliver it by post. If you don’t want to deal with all of this manually you can get a third party to take care of this work for you for a nominal fee.

The good news is that since this change has scared away a lot of lazy sellers, the info market is now more open than ever making now the best time to start cashing in! Others may be too lazy to adapt, but you can make a profit off of this newly under-tapped market!

On the 25th of this month eBay is planning to make a few important structural changes to its fee system and search listings.
However, the overall message that eBay is sending through these changes is that they want to create an environment that is both safe for buyers and profitable for sellers.
Fact: Although this is a real concern, there ARE methods you can use to find the most remunerative products for your business.

If you are having a difficult time figuring out what you should be selling on eBay, don’t feel discouraged. You’re in good company; the fact is that even eBay’s most successful sellers often encounter this problem on a repeated basis. But what separates them from the rest is their persistent innovation and restructuring.

Powersellers do NOT have any special magic spell that allows them to know what to sell on eBay. Rather, what makes them successful is their willingness to stay tuned in to the market and make ongoing adjustments to their product base.

Needless to say, the pros tend to choose from a large bag of tricks when creating a market strategy. But what you need to keep in mind is that Powersellers are just ordinary people, and each of their methods is entirely teachable. In future newsletters we will discuss several of these, but today I just want to focus in on one of the most important tricks. It’s called “flipping.”

“Flipping” consists of buying cheep items from wholesalers and then reselling them on eBay for a profit. It sounds easy, and in a way it is. But your chances for success will be increased if you already know what to sell on eBay. Before telling you how to flip the products we should go over quickly a list of items that are the most likely to be successful in this process. Read more about What to Sell on eBay!
